So recently a friend told me all about this course he is doing at a really good arts uni. He's doing Graphic Design, is in 3rd year, loves it and is starting up his own business. The course sounds GREAT, like something i'd really enjoy and get have a good career with. Its NOT government supported so that means i have to pay 10 grand a year, while im living out of home as well. The plan i came up with is to defer the second half of this year which means im still enrolled at the uni, i can still go back and carry on and everything, but in the mean time i can work full time and save money to pay for the course if i decide to go ahead with it.
so thats the general plan, but my worries are am i jumping into this too soon? is it just a great idea that will lose its charm a year and a half...and 15 grand..down the track? Am i really good enough to do graphic design...i dont know. Im scared that if i dont go for it i will miss a great opportunity and maybe reject the career i was meant for...or if i do go for it, im scared it will just be a waste of money, time and effort and i'll be back at square one again.
My family thinks its a good idea, and thinks i should have done it from the start, but mum has her worries that i dont have a passion for graphic arts which you would be a must for the course, but i love all the computer programms they use like photoshop etc, and im quite creative so im not too worried about that.
anyway....thought i might just see other artists/graphic designers think about it and yeah...so any advice would be much appreciated
